How beautiful your brow tattoo turns out depends half on your artist’s skill and half on how you care for it afterwards. In the first weeks your skin is still healing. With the right care, the pigment settles evenly, your brows look natural and the result lasts longer. Picking, scratching or applying the wrong products too early can cause patchy color and more touch-ups than necessary.
This guide walks you through eyebrow tattoo aftercare step by step, so it’s easy to follow.
Why Aftercare Matters
Semi-permanent brow tattooing places pigment into the upper layers of the skin. During the first days, the skin heals and “locks in” the color. Friction, chemicals or heavy sweating during this time can make the pigment fade faster or heal unevenly between the two brows.
The First 24 Hours: The Most Important Period
- Keep your brows away from water, cleansers, soap and facial foam.
- Do not rub or scrub your brows. If they get wet, gently pat them dry with a tissue.
- Don’t pick or scratch, even if they feel tight or slightly itchy.
Days 2–7: The Healing Phase
- HairStroke brows: after the first 24 hours, your brows can get wet as normal. You can wash your face and shower as usual, which makes aftercare very easy.
- Natural 6D brows (microblading): keep your brows away from water and sweat for 7 days, as this is when light flaking occurs and the pigment is still settling.
- Some mild itching around days 3–5 is normal. Do not pick or scratch, as this can remove pigment in patches.
- You can wear makeup as usual, but avoid creams, cosmetics and sunscreen on the brow area for 7 days.
- Avoid saunas, swimming, intense workouts, strong sun and harsh facial treatments around the eyes, such as laser or exfoliation.
After That: The Color Develops
Once your brows finish flaking, the color may look about 20–30% lighter than on day one. Don’t worry — this is completely normal. The pigment gradually resurfaces on its own. For HairStroke brows, the color takes around 45–60 days to fully develop.

- ❌ Creams, serums, exfoliating acids or sunscreen on the brows in the first 7 days
- ❌ Saunas, steam rooms, swimming or intense workouts in the first week
- ❌ Laser or strong facial treatments near the brows
- ❌ Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight
What’s Normal and When to Contact Us
Normal: slight redness or swelling on the first day, mild itching around days 3–5, and color that looks darker in the first week before softening.
Contact the salon or see a doctor if: redness or swelling keeps increasing after 2–3 days, there is pus, severe pain or a fever.
When Should You Come Back for a Touch-Up?
- HairStroke brows: come back for a touch-up 60 days after your first session. The pigment needs 45–60 days to fully develop, so waiting lets your artist clearly see where the color has healed well and where it needs refining.
- Natural 6D brows: come back for a touch-up 30 days after your first session.
After that, our organic pigments fade naturally over 1–2 years without turning red or green, so you can always update your brow shape as trends and your features change.
